Deities convention.. the effects of nature mismanagement!

Daily Journal Gombak river God, Guardian of the Gombak river

June 2nd 2007

I'm very distressed. These days, the humans living in the city are getting very arrogant and ignorant of their actions! Gone were the days when the people were more careful about their environment. When they first settled here about 120 years ago, my river along with the neighbour's the Klang river god's domain was clean and easy to maintain. My subjects, the fishes, prawns, and all other sentient beings living within my domain were well fed, we were happy. Now, the city is growing every minute. These humans were creating a lot of unnecessary development and stress to the lands along the Klang Valley, the Earth Gods and City Gods worry a lot. I heard that they always worry so much about how the city is being developed and the effects of this overdeveloping is causing a lot of stress to the forest goddesses and other sentient beings living in the area.

My end is getting worse, the kind of rubbish and things that these humans throw into our rivers are getting more and more! It's so ludicrous that these humans no longer care about their environment. Their ancestors were much better, the very least, they had the decency to protect and make proper usage of the rivers. After all, it was their own source of water supply and their form of transportation. Humans always never learn. One day, if the East Naga God decides to pull a prank on these humans, they will definitely suffer.

My good neighbour, the Gombak river God has been complaining to the Bureaucratic Authorities on the recent actions of the humans towards its domain. I can't agree more. My river looked worst than it was 100 years ago. I can't seem to understand why the humans are such stubborn species. They still don't get it that by doing more harm to the environment and nature, they're only making themselves to suffer more! East Naga seemed worried and also the rest of the other Earth gods, City Gods, River Gods, Forest Goddesses and other heavenly beings. They are getting worried about the climate changes that is affecting their job. I can't blame them. Each time, I try to remind these humans to stop throwing their waste and garbage onto my river, they all fallen to a deaf ear...

They are certainly a bunch of incorrigible beings!

Daily Journal of East Naga God, Rainmaker and Guardian of the Eastern Seas.
June 1st 2007.

My my, I have seem to have lost some control over the rain seasons. These humans don't know what they have done to their environment. I always get petitions and complaints from the humans who toil the earth for a good harvest. 'Send us rains during the appropriate times' This is the most sent petition from them. Don't they know that their other fellow friends are creating this change? They waste a lot of resources, change the face of the earth, pollute my domain and utterly killing my subjects in the name of Economy!!! This is utter disgrace.

What is this? An edict from the South Heaven Imperial courts. \

"The Southern Heaven Imperial Edict"

"In accordance with the Imperial Decree of the Jade Emperor, The Jade Emperor here by summon the East Dragon King, The Guardian of the Eastern Sea and Rainmaker, to make rain throughout the Eastern lands of the Earth beginning tomorrow June 2nd as it is in accordance to the seasonal rains and weather conditions for the year of the Fire Boar DING HAI.

The rains must continue to pour until the Lunar Seventh month. After which, a temporary break until the beginning of the Lunar Ninth Month for the celebrations of Her Imperial Majesty's the Tian Hou's 9 emperor god's anniversary.

By order of the Highest, Honored one of the Southern Heaven.

So be it. I hope the humans will brace themselves for this weather to come... pity them!

Deity Conference, Ceylon Hill Guan Yin Temple, Lorong Bukit Ceylon
June 10th 2007

All Deities have gathered at the main Shrine Hall of Ceylon Hill Guan Yin Temple to discuss the potential hazards and dangers to the human inhabitants living in the City of Kuala Lumpur

Magistrate Pao Gong:
I hope the humans have prepared themselves. I know they have only themselves to blame as the rivers of Gombak and Klang could not hold such a downpour, due to their negligence and their activities of development and improper waste management!

Zhai Tian Da Sheng (Monkey God):
Seriously, Old Man Pao! I am not sure if the humans know the adversity of their own actions! I'm sure they would put the blame on poor old Dragon! Har Har Har! What fools! If they only knew... it's all their own Karma!

Lord Guan Di:
City God! Have you dispatch all your troops to ensure lives are spared?

City God:
Yes Lord Guan Di. I have ensured that no human lives will be endangered. But I can't vouch for their properties.

Lord Guan Di:
Good good indeed. Well done. Old Pao! Do you think these humans will ever learn their lessons about polluting? I wondered...?

Magistrate Pao Gong:
I doubt it. As far as I know, They've been around for 6 thousand years. They still make mistakes.. Even when I was a human being born in China, they still make their mistakes. Seem to me they will never learn...

Monkey God:
Hee Hee Hee, Just like my master, Tripitaka Master Xuan Tzang has mentioned, their karma has yet to arrive. When their karma comes, they will learn. Hopefully, not to late. not to late...

Magistrate Pao Gong:
Aaaah. I see one of our friends has arrived... Let us greet her...

Assembly of Gods and Goddessess:
Welcome Home.. How have you been? It's been a while since we last met...

Guan Yin Bodhisattva:
Greetings all noble ones, Welcome to my humble abode. I hope your needs are well taken. Please excuse me if they aren't. I am such a terrible host...

Lord Guan Di:
Oh No. Great Bodhisattva! Please do not be so formal with us. We are most happy with your attendants and their services. Our gratitude.

Monkey God:
Respected Bodhisattva! I only hope the humans will learn from their mistakes of past. You are most aware of the event about to come during the hour of the rooster?

Guan Yin Bodhisattva:
Yes I am aware Great Monkey King. I pity on all sentient beings for the rains will cause economic damages and will also inconvenient a lot of the city dwellers here in these days to come. I hope they will prepare themselves.... May Buddha bless them!

Cundi Bodhisattva:
Greetings! Noble ones...

Guan Yin Bodhisattva:
Mother of 7 Koti Buddhas! Welcome to my humble abode. I was expecting you...

Cundi Bodhisattva:
Great Compassionate one! Greetings. May you be well and happy always. Yes. I am here as I have some devotees passing by...I heard they were reciting my mantras.. so I came to have a look! You know.. being a bit nosy! Ha ha ha...

Guan Yin Bodhisattva:
Laughing: Yes yes.. there are some devotees of Bhagavan Sakyamuni. Seeking blessings...and removing their karmic obstacle.

Lord Guan Di:
Yes some of these disciples I know. I know them well...

Cundi Bodhisattva:
Blessed Compassionate one. Be mindful of the humans tonight. They will need your compassion and wisdom to overcome their own calamity.

Guan Yin Bodhisattva:
Mother of 7 Buddhas, I am ever ready. May you also protect those who follow the way!

Cundi Bodhisattva:
May all you deities protect your devotees tonight!

Various deities and goddesses all joined palms and humbly bowed to the Great Mother of 7 Buddhas.

Monkey God:
Why do we need to take care of human's problems!!! They are such a pest! They always create troubles for themselves.. I hate humans! I wished 'The planet of Apes' was on air!!! That'll show the humans how we apes and monkeys run our daily lives! We're much better than them!

Lord Guan Di:
Old Monkey! You seemed to forgot how you were canonized as a deity! Thanks to them too.. these humans do really need a role model. We are after all, their role model. I hope they will learn this time....

Empress of the West, (Xi Wang Mu):
On the contrary, Lord Guan Di. I think the humans will learn. It's a matter of time.

Monkey God: Well, I'm betting they will never learn! Say Old Master Lao Zhun! Any nice peaches growing on the heavenly gardens?

Deities and Goddesses proceed with their own affairs at the Ceylon Hill Guan Yin Temple...

Moral of the Story: Don't blame God, Gods or Goddesses or Deities for the recent events happening around us. We are to be blame. We have polluted our own back yard. We can clean this up! Do not Pollute! Let us always remind ourselves daily! We can make a DIFFERENCE!

Traders bemoan losses, thousands start mopping up

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of people began picking up the pieces after Sunday night's floods left a trail of destruction.

Roads around Masjid Jamek, Dataran Merdeka and other areas were covered in thick mud.

The smell of rotting matter hung in the air as piles of rubbish and items destroyed by floodwaters along the road grew taller by the minute.

The Dataran Merdeka underground car park was still full of murky water and City Hall workers were seen pumping out water. They said it would take at least three days to get all the water out.

Gruelling work: City Hall workers pumping out the water from the car park in Dataran Merdeka.
Nearby in St Mary's Anglican Catheral, which is located beside Sungai Gombak that burst its banks, almost everything, including files, computers and a piano, was destroyed when water rose to at least 1.5m.

“This is devastating because we had just completed our renovation,” said its administration officer Anthony Francis Desilver.

All the buildings fronting Dataran Merdeka, including the Industrial Court and Sultan Abdul Samad Building were affected.

Outside the City Library and Children’s Library, books were hung out on lines to dry.

In Jalan Masjid India, many shop owners, besides cleaning up their premises, decided to hold cheap sale for goods destroyed by the floods.

“This is not the first time we are doing this.

“Kuala Lumpur City Hall should really do something to solve the problem. It hits us on a regular basis,” said shop owner Tan Ah Mooi.

Restoran Jamek owner Sheukur Ahmad, 35, was busy scooping out murky water from his restaurant.

He said he lost between RM2,000 and RM3,000 for not being able to operate his business in Jalan Tun Razak.

“This is terrible. Who will compensate us shopkeepers?” he said.

Over at Jalan Sultan Ismail, several hotels had to pump floodwater out from their basement car parks.

Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur general manager Gary Lee said that it was a coincidence that two worst floods to hit the hotel happened on the same day – June 10, 2003 and Sunday which was also June 10.

“After the flood in 2003, we spent RM5mil to relocate our electricity sub-station to a three-storey building,” he said.

Renaissance's public relations and communications director M.S. Bobby said that no cars were damaged in Sunday's flood.

She said sand bags were placed at the entrance of the car park to hold back the water which began to rise at about 7.30pm.

The MIC headquarters off Jalan Tun Razak was coated in a thick layer of mud.

Party executive secretary S. Devandran said the flood laid waste to the timber floor of its multi-purpose hall.

The building’s substation, lifts, water pumps and external air-conditioner units at ground level were also rendered useless.
